Welcome to Timbuktoo Photos.  I developed this site in 2014 as a way to share photos with family and friends.  Since then, I've added photos from trips and experiences around the world.  I've had the privilege to work as a public health consultant for over 35 years, mostly in developing countries, taking me to fascinating places around the world.  Since retirement in 2024, I've also traveled for fun to many parts of the US and other countries.  I have many photographic interests, but birds, wildlife, scenery, and interesting people feature most.  If there's an overall theme, it would be to marvel at and appreciate the remarkable planet we live on - I even made an Apple book very roughly following Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"; you can see some contents of that in one of the links below.  Click on links in any of the headings below for latest additions, or just enjoy the slide show above. The icons above the slideshow have links to additional tabs for Places, Birds, Wildlife, and others.

Send any comments or requests for originals to timbuktoophotos@gmail.com.  Cheers and happy viewing, Tim Williams (Timbuktoo :-))

Notice - my apologies as there are a few links with out-of-place photos.  Lightroom started assigning duplicate photo ID numbers to new  photos, and then replacing the originals in the original page.  So some photos in any given gallery may come from a completely different country (e.g., a photo from Chile may appear in the page for Congo!).  This happens with fewer than 1% of photos, but when it does it may cause quite a surprise.  I am slowly correcting the problem, but I may not catch all of them for a while.
