This gallery shows photos from Tsavo East National Park - see also the gallery for Tsavo West.  The two halves are separated by the Nairobi-Mombasa road and the old rail line that also runs from Nairobi to Mombasa.  Together, Tsavo East and West form the largest national park in Kenya, and one of the largest in the world, protecting 22,000 square KM.  Like Tsavo West, this eastern section is well known for its reddish soil, and many animals are reddish as a result, such as the elephant above.  Even some of the birds get a reddish tinge if they flutter around in the dust.  We spent about 2 days in this spectacular park, before proceeding to the nearby Shimba Hills, and then down to Watamu on the coast.
