This gallery (scroll down below text) contains highlight shots from a fantastic trip I took to Madagascar with Birding Ecotours in July-August 2024. The main activity was very intensive birding, with the goal of trying to find six "mega" species that very few people ever see, mostly in the remote northwestern part of the country. We also went to a remote lake (Lake Kirkony) near the western coast, and the Kirindy and Tsingy areas in the West, famous for amazing baobab trees and rock formations. I ended the trip with a few days on my own after the Birding Ecotours portion, in the beautiful Masoala Peninsula, which has some of the largest remaining areas of intact rainforest in Madagascar. There I got a little rest and relaxation as well as some additional great birding and wildlife viewing.
